Seems everyone is here for Tom and he does have an unforgettable presence. A strong reverence for the character and sharp intelligence applied to the acting craft to play Loki like no one else could. Suavely articulate but also considerate of his cast so that he doesn't come across as a separatist consumed by ego diva that apparently happens to actors behind the scenes way more than anyone will admit. All of that said, as unpopular as this is going to sound, if I were an actor trying to make an impression I'm not sure choosing to be on that panel if I were in that movie would be a smart move. Like especially if you are the main good guy like Robert Downey Jr, are you going to let the villain steal the show? Lol. You got to love what Tom brings, the charm, the smarts, the accent, the impressions, but not everybody wants to be suntaned by his glow. I love an underdog story like anyone else and I think Clark Gregg originally assigned a forgettable walk-on part in the original iron Man and making enough of an impression to expand his role to the point where his character is a major plot point in the big movie where they all get together, that's nothing short of amazing. And I think he came off almost as well as the supervillain here. The Romanoffed story, feeling no one told him he was going to die because of his Make-A-Wish I can't believe I'm here moment, and calling attention to the greatest one word text anyone could ever receive in that context, Assemble! I've never been to one of these panels but have watched a few on UA-cam and this is one of the most entertaining I've seen. It wasn't only Tom and Clark that shined, the choice to boot Edward Norton from the franchise was not popular back then and was actively booed at other panels. It was still months before anyone could see what Mark Ruffalo could offer to a very popular character, and still the new guy came across quite well and appeared to fit in even before the movie was released.
